Top 5 Hair Trends at the Grammy’s 2016

We have pulled together the top 5 hair trends at the Grammy’s from the red carpet:

1) Long heavy fringes

Heavy bangs are popular amongst artists Florence and the Machine, Zendaya and Taylor Swift.

For a bohemian and 70’s vibe, channel Florence with her long slightly parted fringe to compliment long flowing wavy hair and longer rectangular face shape. Ask your Stylist to cut your fringe to your brows in the middle and longer and heavier on the sides, layering into your hair. Or go for blunt and straight like Taylor Swift. We love her new short bob, which is a timeless classic and so chic (think Anna Wintour!). Her eye skimming fringe brings out Taylor’s eyes and the length of the bob compliments her chiselled cheek bones.

2) Balayage bobs

Another top hair trend at the Grammy’s were the ever popular bobs and lobs. Our 2 favourites are the blonde balayage bobs from Adele and Big Bang Theory actress, Kayley Cuoco. Adding colour is a great way to liven up a shorter do, or to change your hair if you are growing your hair out for summer.

Speak to your Rush Stylist who will give you an in depth colour consultation about the right shade of blonde for you and different techniques of ombre/balayage, highlights or permanent colour to suit you. Balayage is a delicate technique where the colour is applied by hand to where the sun would naturally hit your hair. It is a great low maintenance hair style as you don’t have to update your roots every 4 weeks!

3) Side Sweeping Waves

Ellie Goulding and Selena Gomez were sporting the natural, effortless look, feeling very “I just got out of bed and had to hit the red carpet” look.

To try the natural wave at home, part your hair to the side, and divide into sections. Starting from halfway down the hair, place your hair between the plates of your GHDs, starting from about the jaw down, twist and rotate the hair 360 degrees gently pulling through towards the ends of the hair, twisting as you go for big loose curls. Play with the curl with your fingers to keep the shape. Shake through and brush out with your fingers and style to the side. For extra glam, add a smoky eye-shadow and smudge brown eye-liner into the outer corners of your eyes like Selena.

4) Colour – RED

The big colour hair trend at the Grammy’s was red! Former blonde beauty Meghan Trainor showed up with a new short auburn do and Lady Gaga opted for a fiery red to compliment her David Bowie tribute ensemble.

5) Centred, straight and sleek

A popular hair trend at the Grammy’s for off duty models Alessandra Ambrossio and Bella Hadid was the centred wetlook style.

Apply a heat protector spray all over and straighten hair in sections with ghd’s. Part hair in the middle using a ghd tail comb for a precise middle parting, then spritz L’Oréal Professionnel Shower Shine spray all over the hair and comb through. Style by tucking hair behind your ears and off shoulders for maximum attention to your face.
