Party season is here, which means it’s time to start planning a head-turning party look to wow your workmates and floor your friends. If you’re set on pulling out all the stops, you’ll be keen to ensure your hair looks suitably stunning.

But the festive season can be pretty hectic and it’s not always possible to spend hours on a showstopping ‘do. Luckily, it’s perfectly possible to achieve a glamorous look with relatively little effort if you know how. Check out our pick of easily achieved party dos for festive season inspiration.

Halo braid

An ethereal, casually angelic braid that’s been enjoying a glammed up, red carpet-worthy renaissance in recent years, the halo braid is a wonderfully natural ‘do that looks stunning with a dressed-up party outfit.

It’s also pretty easy to achieve if you can turn your hand to some relatively straightforward braiding. Just divide your hair, right back to the nape of your neck, then, following your hairline, Dutch braid all the way around your head, finishing with a simple plait. Then wrap the end of the braid around your head and discretely secure with hair slides and a blast of hairspray.

Sleek ponytail

Incredibly straightforward and yet, when well executed, super-glamorous, a long, sleek ponytail can look a million bucks, despite its apparent simplicity. Like most minimalist looks, the sleek ponytail, as rocked by the likes of Kim Kardashian, only delivers on its promise of effortlessly achievable glamour if you style it perfectly.

This usually means getting a pro involved but, with a bit of care, it should be possible to pull off the perfect ponytail at home. The key is to get your hair super-straight before sweeping it into a ponytail then, when everything’s in place, brushing and straightening it again before applying gel or spray for extra shine.

Chignon

A classically chic bun that never goes out of style, the chignon pretty much defines understated, low-maintenance sophistication and absolutely deserves a place in your party season repertoire.

The first trick is making sure your hair has a bit of texture, so leave it unwashed for a couple of days or apply a bit of texturizing spray. The process is pretty easy: part your hair down the middle then gather it together at the nape of your neck before gently twisting it – using a counter-clockwise action – into a coil. Continue to twist into a bun then secure with a large bobby pin, gently loosen the edges of the bun then secure all-around using smaller bobby pins.

Embellish your hair

Of course, you could just accessorise with a statement hair clip. Embellished hair clips have been one 2019’s biggest hair trends and there are few simpler ways to add a dash of glitz and glamour to your party hair. There are tons of stunning hair accessories to choose from right now, from pearl-encrusted barrettes to crystal-embellished hair clips and it’s an extremely easy look to wear.
