England World Cup WAGs Hair
The World Cup has officially begun.
England fans up and down the country are fighting the urge to build up hopes… before we inevitably crash out with a whimper. Nothing ever changes.
Another thing that never changes is the parade of WAGs (wives and girlfriends) that follow international footballers to competitions. From Victoria Beckham to Coleen Rooney, the partners are often as famous (or more so) than their footballing spouses and inevitably attract media attention. We’re no different.
As much as we’re excited for England to kick-off, our lack of hope has dampened our excitement somewhat. No Beckham, no Lampard, no Rooney. This squad just isn’t what we are used to seeing, and neither are the WAGS, this year’s lot are somewhat camera shy. So instead we are going to reminiscence about the past and take a look at some of our favourite WAGs and their hairstyles, to see if they live up to the RUSH standard.
Undoubtedly the Queen of the WAGs during David’s playing days, Victoria Beckham is much more business like nowadays (certainly a lot more than when she burst onto the scene with the Spice Girls in the ’90s). Very much still the in public eye, Victoria’s a business unto herself. Hair-wise she often sports an up-do, very suitable for her role as an entrepreneur.
With her very public relationships and new baby, it can be hard to remember that Cheryl was once head over heels for football badboy Ashely Cole. Since their break-up she has gone on to judge on the X-Factor, become the face of L’Oreal, released her own fragrance and had a baby with One Direction star Liam. Not a bad few years! Cheryl is always immaculate and her hair is no exception. Not one for bright or bold colours, her understated style shows you don’t need to be over-the-top to stand out from the crowd.
Childhood sweetheart of England’s all-time top scorer Wayne Rooney, Coleen has had to put up with a lot of public indiscretions from her husband (which is weird because she’s soooo much better looking than him)! Despite all of this, and four kids, she still looks fantastic and is another who relies on an understated look, allowing her natural colour to shine through and keeping the cut simple!
TV presenter Christine and Frank Lampard started dating back in 2009, marrying in 2015, and are now expecting their first child together! Congrats guys! The couple with the least drama out of this list, we wish them all the best. Christine’s TV career means she is always looking good, and her raven hair is a staple of her image.
Model Abbey and husband Peter Crouch (another couple where the wife is considerably better looking than her husband), married in 2011 and have three children together (not that you’d guess by Abbey’s figure)! As a model and a regular on TV shows, Abbey is always looking her best, with her softly highlighted blonde locks a popular look here at RUSH.
Finger’s crossed we see England lift the trophy in the coming days, but we won’t hold our breath. In the meantime, we will keep admiring the lovely ladies the players have managed to marry in recent years!
