The British Hairdressing Award’s red carpet was rolled out once again on Monday night as some of the biggest talent in the hair industry turned out to see who had scooped a coveted BH Award.  Now in it’s 29th year, the British Hairdressing Awards, recognised as the biggest industry event of the year was presented by Hairdressers Journal International and sponsored by hair care brand Schwarzkoph Professional.

Co-hosted by Hair Journal’s Publishing Director Jayne Lewis Orr and funny man, comedian David Walliams, it was an evening of glitz, glamour and of course great hair. The Rush team dusted off their suits and dresses and headed down to the beautiful Grosvenor House Hotel to support our talented stylists who had been nominated on the night.

Hairdressers from all over the UK dedicated months of hard work preparing their photographic entries for the awards which were judged on creativity, skill and talent of entrant. The finalists were chosen after a day of judging at Epsom Downs racecourse and this year Rush was well represented with two big award nominations. Rush Epsom stylist and Artistic Team member, Seung Ki Baek, battled it out for the ‘Southern Hairdresser of the Year’ title and our award winning Artistic Team made it through to the final in the category for ‘Artistic Team of the Year’.

Baek, hair stylist extraordinaire, triumphed against six talented stylists to win the desirable title of Southern Hairdresser of the Year. This is the second time Baek has been awarded this accolade, having previously won it in 2010.
Commenting on his win, Baek gushed

“I was so pleased to win the title of Southern Hairdresser of the Year for the second time, it means so much to not only myself but everyone connected with Rush Hair.  This award is also a great tribute to the fantastic hairdressing talent and creativity within Epsom.  Winning this award has been a fantastic way to end 2013.”

The who’s who of the hairdressing and media world were in attendance on the night with over 1700 guests. The crowd was treated to a fantastic interval performance by up and coming girl band Stooshe.  The final section included an impressive model presentation by each of the nominees for British hairdresser of the year. The coveted title of “British Hairdresser of the Year”  went to Akin Konizi, of Hob Salons, a third win for the hairdresser.
Congratulations to all of the winners on the night with a special acknowledgement to our newly awarded Southern Hairdresser of the Year, Seung Ki Baek, an outstanding achievement.
