Last week, Rush’s Editorial Director, Tina Farey, and International Colour Director, Chris Williams, were in India with L’Oréal Professionnel to teach a 4 day master class on cut and colour.
For the 5th consecutive time, our Creative team have travelled to India to present master classes as part of a long standing education plan with L’Oréal Professionnel. Last year the team delivered classes in Mumbai and Delhi, while the classes this year were hosted in Kolkota & Bangalore.
Commenting on the Indian Professional colour market, Chris Williams says “It only started 12 years ago and L’Oréal are the market leaders over there supplying over 80% of salons with professional colour’
The week long programme consisted of live demonstrations and hands on practice sessions with models. The first set of seminars were in Delhi, where day one involved a basic master class with cut and colour and day two covered the advanced techniques. Tina, who is internationally recognised for her Editorial cut and colour skills, while Chris, an international colour specialist and 2020 Colour Elite member, headed the colour segment of the day.

Chris William says:
“Teaching in India was a fantastic experience as always. Tina and I were both delighted to be asked back for the 5th consecutive year now and we are always pleased to share our knowledge and experience. We had classes of 18 students each day for both practical sessions and demonstrations and always find the class so keen to learn and really receptive to ideas.
One of the nicest things this year was that 3 of the Sydney’s had seen Tina and I 2 years ago and travelled a 4 hour train journey from Chennai to Bangalore to come and join us again. It’s great to see the industry growing there but even nicer to see individuals coming back and growing with us.”
Commenting on the course, Tina Farey says:
“The trip was great! The students were very happy and got a lot out of the course which was cut and colour as the focus! There were students that came over from Chenai to see Chris and I, who we had taught on previous trips! It was great to have a little following in India! The Indian market is very commercial – long hair is the most popular , so I was creating long internal shapes that maintained the length but removing weight. and soft sweeping fringes were very popular!”
