Rush Workshop Team member, James Oxley was proud to be a part of the Karen Millen AW15 Press launch on 23rd April 2015, at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. He’s given us behind the scenes access to his exciting day assisting Halley Brisker of Jed Root.

Karen Millen describes their AW15 collection as ‘all about tactile textures’, while the brief for the hair was to keep it natural, very soft and all about the prep.

The Look: ‘Easy  going and effortless!’

James says, “The hair was summery, embracing natural textures and prepped with Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray, however we’d use L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Pli, to create this look in salon. Then it was blow-dried away from the fade with our hands, layering the product up”.

The hair was then loosely scraped into a pony tail using our fingers and tied with an elastic band. The ends of the pony tail were distressed with Bumble & Bumble Thickening Cream, and soft wisps of hair pulled out around hair line. To recreate this look try the  L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Wild Stylers Scruff Me ‘.

Commenting on the final look and the event, James says:

“The hair look wasn’t too contrived, effortless yet had a sense of purpose. Karen Millen is renowned for her beautifully elegant yet strong collections and the rawness of this ponytail really added a naive playfulness to this collection”.
