‘Oh My Corset!’- London Fashion Week SS13
Headed up by British Hairdressing Award finalist Tina Farey and our very own Italian bella Paola Pinto – Saturday saw the session team, in partnership L’Oreal Professionnel, backstage at the ‘Oh My Corsets’ show, creating stunning hair to compliment the gorgeous collections put together by Italian Designers Laura Colombo, the name behind ‘Oh My Corsets!’ and Carlotta Gherzi of ‘My Love My Leggings’.
‘Oh My Corsets!’ works with traditional craftsmanship methods brought up to date using futuristic three dimensional fabrics combined with those originating from Traditional Italian couture, such as silk, satin, wool yarns, pearl embroideries and, crystals and glass stones to create beautiful, curvy and feminine silhouettes. The stunning corsets were coupled with ‘My Love My Leggings’; Carlotta’s strong prints, bold colour and textured fabrics the perfect complement, to Laura’s luxurious pieces.
The collection explores three different interpretations of the corset; the first inspired by the women of Southern Italy, Africa and The Queen of Sheba and finally the tradition of craftsmanship. For the hair Laura wanted a look that portrayed sleek, elegant Italian glamour, with a strong, futuristic twist.
To create the look the team prepped the hair using L’Oreal Professionnel Techni.Art Volume Moose….before blowdrying the lengths to smooth:
The hair was then secured into a low ponytail, and L’Oreal Professionnel Techni.Art Metallic Gloss run through the ends to create a sleek finish. Tina and the team then wrapped the hair around itself, and secured into a bun at the nape of the neck, giving the illusion of a knot. Et Voila! The hair screamed traditional Italian glamour, brought bang up to date with sharp partings and strong, sleek finishes.
