We were honoured and extremely excited to attend one of fashions hottest events for 2015 – The Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition at the V&A, London. It was a perfect start to a Wednesday morning, with Redken’s Fashion Collection presentation and breakfast followed by the Alexander McQueen’s private viewing.

The Redken Team started the morning with high energy in the V&As stunning Gamble Room, playing the popular track ‘Up Town Funk’ by Bruno Mars. Bringing together hair & fashion, the room filled with hairdressers, salon owners, beauty and fashion bloggers and Alexander McQueen fanatics and the atmosphere was electric.

The Redken General Manager took to the stage to introduce the Redken Fashion Collection. The collection inspired by Guido, Redken’s Global Styling Director, who’s worked alongside Alexander McQueen on many of his catwalk/fashion projects. It includes Braid Aid 03, a braid defining lotion for runway ready braids and twists; Stay High 18, a high holding gel to mousse for long lasting volume; Metal Fix 08, a metal liquid pomade for catwalk silver and gold flashes. Perfect for creating looks for S/S15, this collection makes creating catwalk looks an ease!

We then moved on to the highly anticipated exhibition, retrospectively celebrating one of the most innovative designers of recent times, Alexander McQueen. Though saddened by the knowledge that we couldn’t take any photos, understandably, we walked through a dark, mystically lit journey of some of Alexander McQueen’s best work. His pieces were exhibited in innovative spaces including shelf like decor climbing towards the ceiling mixed with filmed catwalk shows. The dresses took inspiration from shells, hair & feathers to say the least. The intricate details didn’t stop at his pieces, each room’s detail almost placed us into his mind, describing his inspiration on the walls and perfect lighting drawing our eyes to detail on each and every dress.
