Top knots are here in all shapes and sizes this autumn, from straight and slick to big and messy, buns are taking on new heights this autumn. As we welcome in the start of London Fashion Week, we wanted to share a quick and easy way to stay on trend from some top girls at the very top of the top knot trend!

Getting started?

To achieve this look, the position of the knot is important! To create a top knot, you’ll need to brush your hair to the top of your head making sure that the back is very smooth. There’s different sizes and types of top knots that you can try and these celebrities are perfect for some TopKnotspiration…

Soft & Cute like Kristen

Kristen Wiig’s top knot is the perfect way to achieve a soft and cute look. Make sure to frame your face with wispy, curly edges and keep the updo a bit messy. Divide your ponytail in two to twist it. Twist into a circular shape and pin.

Vanessa’s Curly & Flirty

Grab your flexi rollers for a curly & flirty top knot!  Like Vanessa Hudgens make sure to enhance your curls to make this look work. Let your fly-aways have their way. The messy/little-effort look makes it all the better!

Sleek like Dixon

Sleek and chic type? Well Alesha Dixon’s look is perfect for you! Use your brush and a great styling product like Tigi Bed Head Master Piece (used in our Rush Hair salons) to hold and protect against frizz.

Front & Centre like Jennifer

Bring your locks front and centre this season and add some volume. For this look to look chic, stay away from a small knot! If you need some help with volume use extension clip-ins to add body.  No need to keep it extra sleek but maintain a finished look with a semi messy knot like Jennifer Morrison.

Add a little bit more like Lauren

The bigger the better? If you have very thick or voluminous tresses you may find yourself creating a big top knot. Like Lauren Conrad, keep it further away from your face than the average top knot and position it closer to the centre of your head. Back comb your ponytail for texture and volume, then twist your hair into a circular shape.
