Unfortunately, break-outs can happen at any age, not just the teenage years, and sometimes our spots leave a mark on our skin. Acne scars can’t always be prevented, which is even more annoying. But thankfully there are lots of options out there which can help fade the dreaded marks, which we are going to discuss in this blog.

At our Rush Beauty salons, our Therapists offer treatments which can help get rid of acne scars such as; Skin Peels, Microdermabrasion, and Micro-needling. There are lots of things you can do to help your skin at home. All of our Beauty salons stock a wide range of skin care products – if you are unsure what you should buy to help fade acne scars then ask our friendly Therapists they will be more than happy to help and recommend what you could use on your skin.

To help avoid scaring we always recommend not to pick your spots – this will make the mark a lot worse and it could become infected, swollen and red! Skin guru Caroline Hirons has taught us a lot. Firstly, that there are a lot of different types of Acne, Blackheads, Whiteheads, Pimples, and Cysts. Unsure on what type of spot is currently growing on your face? Have a read of Caroline’s description here. We discussed the best way to help prevent acne in a previous blog, but keeping your skin clean is the easiest way to keep acne away – make sure to cleanse twice a day, use acid in your skin routine and eat healthily.

Now onto how to get rid of your acne scars…. There are different types of acne scars such as; Rolling, Boxcar, Icepick, Keloid and Hypertrophic scars. To determine which type of scar you have, pop into your nearest Rush Beauty salon and one of our therapists can advise you.

 DermaquestAcid toners

If you haven’t guessed already from previous blogs, we love Caroline Hirons. She is the skin care queen and Caroline has educated us all about the importance of using acid toners in your skin care routine because they exfoliate and help fade acne marks! There are acid toners available for purchase at our Beauty salons so why not pop into your nearest one and have a browse of what we have on offer!

Skin Peels

Thankfully there are ways to reduce the appearance of scars. Another option are Skin Peels. They are pain free and provide amazing benefits. Beauty Croydon offers Dermaquest skin peels – the best skin peels for fading marks would be the Pumpkin Peel, Mangobrite, and Glycolic 40%.

The Primary Pumpkin peel helps prevent spots and relieves post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and stimulates collagen. The peel also helps to correct pigmentation so would be a great one to start off with, as it isn’t too strong. Salicylic Acid helps prevent and treat acne and the Lactic Acid helps relieve post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, as well as improving skin tone and texture.

The Mangobrite peel brightens the skin and has anti-inflammatory ingredients. Because it contains Vitamin C, Orange Stem Cells and Mango Pulp, the peel exfoliates the skin and helps repair hyperpigmentation. Also, within the peel there is Kojic Acid – this helps get rid of dark spots by reducing melanin production.

The last Dermaquest peel Beauty Croydon offer that can help fade acne marks is the Glycolic 40% peel. It increases cell turnover and evens skin tone and texture. The Glycolic Acid and Lilac Plant Stem Cells protect skin from environmental pollution. Because there is Glycolic Acid in the peel, it helps exfoliate skin and removes dead skin cells. This peel isn’t recommended for clients with sensitive skin.

At Beauty Windsor and Sutton, the peels which will help fade acne scars are; Glycolic Peel and the Enerpeel Jessner. We love peels that have Glycolic Acid in them! This is because the acid not only helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage, but it exfoliates the skin and helps it look smoother and brighter. The Enerpeel Jessner peel is also another great peel to try because it helps to improve uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation.

Microdermabrasion

Rush Beauty Sutton and Windsor salons offer a treatment called Medical Microdermabrasion, which uses fine medical grade crystals to exfoliate the skin. With this treatment you may feel some minor discomfort but it will be worth it! After the treatment, the outer layers of the skin looks fresher and younger-looking. It also helps get rid of dry, dead skin. The procedure will stimulate the blood flow, encouraging the skin to produce collagen. Once the Therapist has gone across the skin once, they will then target problem areas, such as wrinkles and acne scarring. In order to see results we recommend booking in for a course of treatments as you won’t fade your marks overnight. With some patience you will see results!

Micro-needling

Another treatment which can help fade the marks is Medical Micro-needling. This treatment is a hugely popular treatment with our Sutton and Windsor clients. A pen-shaped device which uses 12 very fine needles helps to break down old scar tissue, stimulate skin cells and improve the blood supply. The device slides across the skin, penetrating the upper layers which create tiny needle wounds. The skin will be cleaned before the treatment and a numbing cream is applied. You may experience some minor discomfort, redness and mild swelling, but it will go down. The treatment improves skin texture, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, improves pore size and helps fade acne scars. If you have any queries please ask our therapists.
