Kérastase Chroma Absolu is a high-performance, professional colour-care collection formulated specifically to protect, repair, and revitalise colour-treated, dark-processed, and highlighted hair. Thanks to its advanced acid-care approach, Kérastase Chroma Absolu actively prevents colour fading, combating extreme porosity, and restoring intense fibre strength from the inside out. The Kérastase Chroma Absolu collection is an essential within a natural hair care routine, allowing clients to maintain vibrant, salon-fresh tones over extended periods, without the damage.

Understanding Coloured Hair and Its Needs

The colouring process alters the hair’s structure. This lifts the hair’s cuticle, which strips natural moisture from the hair, leaving it wide open to damage. After colouring, clients can experience quicker moisture loss, a change in texture and their colour fading quicker. When it comes to selecting an at-home haircare routine for coloured hair, most basic high-street formulas fail to protect chemically altered hair. Selecting professional products specifically formulated for colour treated hair helps to maintain structural balance, repairing damage and nourishing the hair.

Introducing Kérastase Chroma Absolu: The Science Behind the Range

The Kérastase Chroma Absolu collection is built around restorative healing acids that work to treat hair damage right from its core. At the heart of this approach are amino acids, which help rebuild weakened internal fibres and reinforce the cortex from within, giving hair renewed structural strength where it’s needed most. Working alongside this internal repair, tartaric and lactic acids take care of the hair’s surface: smoothing imperfections, sealing the cuticle, and clearing away dulling mineral build-up so that light can reflect more freely, leaving hair looking glossier and more vibrant. To round out the formula, Centella Asiatica brings powerful antioxidant benefits, soothing the hair fibre while helping to defend colour against fading caused by everyday environmental exposure.

Together, these ingredients address damage on two fronts – repairing strength from within while restoring shine and vibrancy on the outside – for hair that looks and feels healthier overall.

Benefits of Using Chroma Absolu for Coloured Hair

Colour Longevity and Vibrancy

The Kérastase Chroma Absolu collection acts as a shield to preserve the depth, brightness, and tone of dyed strands. This collection is loved for its ability to stop common dyes (including vibrant reds, rich brunettes, and delicate blondes) from washing down into brassy or dull reflections. Regular use of the Kérastase Chroma Absolu collection will extend the lifespan of professional highlights with correct use.

Hair Fibre Strengthening and Porosity Reduction

The healing formula found with the Kérastase Chroma Absolu collection fills micro-porous spaces across damaged shafts. This process repairs the internal gaps that occur with colouring, increasing total structural strength and elasticity of the hair. Smoother, non-porous strands retain colour pigment much longer than compromised cuticles – meaning your colour stays stronger for longer!

Hydration and Frizz Control

The Kérastase Chroma Absolu collection delivers intense moisture directly into dry, processed strands. Its weightless anti-frizz properties keep styles sleek and manageable even in high humidity. Hydrated hair is happy hair – making the hair feel incredibly soft and fluid to the touch.

Individual Products and Their Roles in The Range

Every head of hair is different, and the way damage shows up can vary widely depending on cutting techniques, hair density, and styling choices. A blunt, precision cut places different demands on the hair than heavily layered or texturised styles, just as fine, fragile strands require a different level of care to thick, dense hair that’s regularly heat-styled. That’s why the Chroma Absolu collection is designed as a range rather than a single product, with each formula targeting a specific need so you can tailor your routine to suit your hair’s individual structure and styling habits. Below, we break down each product in the range and the specific role it plays.

Bain Chroma Respect Shampoo

Bain Chroma Respect Shampoo

What the product looks like: This sulfate-free shampoo features a luxurious, pale rose creamy gel-cream texture. Upon contact with water, it builds from a gentle lather into a rich, highly nourishing micro-foam that thoroughly cleanses the scalp and hair without stripping moisture or disrupting the internal artificial dye molecules.

Which hair types suit it best: It is primarily adapted for fine-to-medium hair thickness. It is the ideal introductory cleanser for sensitised, dehydrated, or damaged colour-treated hair types, including those with frequent permanent root touch-ups or multi-tonal highlights.

Styling suggestions: Wet the hair completely, remove excess water, and apply a coin-sized amount directly onto the five main zones of the scalp. Emulsify with small splashes of water and spend the first wash using fingertips to massage and lift impurities from the roots. Rinse thoroughly, then apply a second coin-sized amount; this second wash will produce a far more abundant foam designed to gently cleanse and smooth the lengths all the way to the ends.

Why it works well for the trend: This formula targets the foundational enemy of vibrant hair colour: porosity. Infused with high-performance Amino Acids and Lactic Acid, it treats the fiber from the core to reduce surface micro-gaps, resulting in up to 74% more brilliant, bright shine and a massive 92% retention of colour intensity even after 6 weeks of continuous use.

Celebrity example: Sydney Sweeney (celebrated for her iconic, fine-textured but incredibly glossy and fluid baby-blonde tones that remain completely full of body and light reflection on the red carpet).
