TOWIE’s Best Hair

As TOWIE enters into its tenth anniversary year and we contemplate a decade of almost-reality TV, perhaps the time has come to reflect on the many ways our answer to ‘The Hills’ came to define 21st century Essex. To some, TOWIE has massively amplified a reductive caricature of Essex, homing in on a spectacularly shallow cast of locals and their vacuous preoccupations. To others, TOWIE has massively amplified a fabulously entertaining caricature of Essex, homing in on a spectacularly shallow cast of locals and their vacuous preoccupations. For what it’s worth we’re definitely in the latter camp.

Yep, TOWIE divides opinion, but, whichever side you take, it’s hard to deny its influence. For one thing, TOWIE has thrust Essex style into the limelight and big glamorous hair is definitely key to the Essex-glam look. No self-respecting TOWIE girl leaves the house without extensive grooming and, more often than not, luxuriant hair extensions, which are just as much a part of the TOWIE look as an Essex tan. Here are a few of our TOWIE-tastic hair highlights.

Chloe Sims

Having featured on the show since its second season, Chloe Sims is the ultimate TOWIE veteran and in many ways the perfect embodiment of TOWIE style. Her hair has typically been luxuriantly long and loosely wavy, but she’s experimented with different styles now and then, notably a chic blunt fringe, which has made a couple of appearance over the years, including this bold platinum blonde transformation in 2015.

Lauren Pope

One of the original cast members, Lauren Pope’s luscious locks have been the source of much hair envy since 2010. Her signature style is super-glam long waves, achieved with the assistance of hip-length hair extensions which she tongs in sections to create fabulous flowing waves.

Jessica Wright

Jessica Wright’s hair memorably hit the gossip press headlines for all the wrong reasons in 2012 when she was photographed with clumps of hair missing, reportedly the result of a catfight with Lauren Goodger. More typically, Jess’s hair has been super-sleek and voluminous, often employing trademark TOWIE extensions to add length. We think she looked particularly stunning with cascading ombre locks.
