A pretty, fishtail braid wedding updo

1. A delicate fishtail

For a long time now, we’ve all been in love with super-chic, wearable fishtail braids. With height running through the top and glorious money piece highlights, this style goes from festival-ready to sophisticated-reception-ready, a real winner for your big day.

2. A bouquet of flower-inspired braids

This floral *fascinator* design is so detailed; you’ll never tire of looking at the photos post-honeymoon. With a loose fishtail braid, this masterpiece has been expertly manipulated and pinned in place to resemble a rosette or a bouquet of flowers, and will complement a classic, feminine lace dress perfectly

Large waves make for a romantic wedding updo.

3. Bouncy barrel half-up do

Romantic, effortless waves will always have a special place in our hearts when we think ‘wedding hair’. An updo for the understated bride who prefers a natural look, this style is elevated with large, barrel-born waves, before the front sections of hair (leaving some of the bottom layer loose), are secured at the back of your head with a pretty bridal hair clip.

As with any curly ‘do, waves will stay in longer if your hair has a natural bend to it. Don’t be downhearted if this is your dream look though; your hairdresser will advise which products to use for your unique hair type, to make it last as long as possible when your day comes around. As a general rule, we recommend trying L’Oréal PLI, as it’s a lightweight thickening spray, so it gives the hair bounce and life, but still leaves it feeling soft and not sticky.

4. An intricate chignon

If ‘elegance’ is your middle name, then an intricate chignon is for you. Winding and intertwining vines of hair come together at the nape of the neck to create this modern twist on a traditional style.

5. Sideswept and interesting

With statement-making fronds around the face, this sideswept copper ‘do is held pristinely in place with a multicoloured, bejewelled slide. Loosened curls soften the braiding and remind us of country weddings in dappled sunlight and flowing, multi-skirted dresses.

We hope you’ve found the updo that’s right for you – feeling comfortable in your own skin is a great place to start! For such a special occasion, we’ll always recommend having your tresses treated and styled professionally for a seamless and stress-free wedding morning.
