Over 750 of the country’s leading hairstylists made their way to the Brewery in the heart of the City of London for a Celebration of Colour.
Hosted by Goldwell, the colour and styling partner of Rush Hair & Beauty, the event was a celebration of their 50 years of Top Chic colour. The atmosphere in the room was electric showing films of past events including the Colour Zoom competition in Chicago which the Rush Artistic Team headlined with their Rebel Eras of Anarchy show which was inspired by the anarchist punk movement and the designs of Vivienne Westwood.
The evening got off to resounding start when host Made in Chelsea star Jamie Lang welcomed the audience and introduced to Goldwell artists who had created the looks to the stage. Jamie was joined on stage by Goldwell Associate Director of Education Irene Meikle who introduced the programme for the rest of the evening.

The moment that we’d all been waiting for had arrived as Jamie introduced the Rush Artistic Team who introduced their show Frequency based on the frequency of nature, high frequency, negative energy and love. The show started with a with a colourful video that took you on an ecological journey. Artistic Team member Sophie Chandler and Editorial Director, Tina Farey took to the stage with their models and working with hair pieces that emulated the colours in the videos creating larger than life textured hair. The look Sophie created on her model was high energy frequency which showcased texture and colour. Oranges, reds, and greens fused together to create a shape that was extreme. Tinas model ‘s hair was inspired by nature and with the third eye chakra forming a standout headpiece. The look was completed with long straightened wefts which almost touched the ground creating strength and movement as the model walked and was the juxtaposition of Sophie’s model. Oranges and blues bled out to red and green to create an otherworldly look with the third eye chakra visible for all to see.

Next onto stage came international artistic Director Andy Heasman with his model who has two of this season’s most popular colour ways pink and red in her hair, inspired by love and the colour of a rose. The tones fused together with the deep red forming the base of the colour and the pink breaking up the solid tone throughout the top of the hair. Andy preceded to give the model one of Rush’s trademark bi-level haircuts – a sharp blunt fringe with bob length sides that with the colour placement melted into a shoulder length rounded shape. Art team member Seung Ki Baek took long and short hair to a new level with his dark energy look, you could feel the dark energy radiating from his model. Long tresses almost to the model’s waist were fused with shorter texture hair on top that stood out with a white and mint green section to one side that added dimension and texture to the dark look.

The final model portrayed mortality and the afterlife – hair that resembled shards of glass with candy colours of pink and mint green all pushed forward pulling the model into the light showing that our energy never dies. Subtle beads of light dripped of the ends of the hair reflecting the energy that lives on in all of us. For the finale all models took to the stage to give the audience a final look of a presentation that showed us that Your Energy is Always your Power.
