Looking to switch up your look without going near a pair of scissors? Or perhaps you’re growing your hair out and are headed straight for a lengthy awkward phase? Don’t worry – be happy. These to-die-for braided styles have got you and your no doubt beautiful tresses 100% covered.

The Halo Braid

The heavenly halo braid has been making waves since spring 2013 and is back with a holy vengeance this season. Halo braids can be worn in any number of ways, but we love this boho take on the look well and truly rocked by multi-talented actress/popstar Vanessa Hudgens. Halo braids can be smartened up as a great new work-appropriate ‘do and make for an angelic wedding style and suit other smart occasions too. In short, the sky’s the limit.

The Chunky Sky-High Plait

This sky-high plait worn by Selena Gomez in totally radical ‘90s fashion is a great way to mix the braided trend with the ponytail trend seen on virtually every catwalk at London Fashion Week. We love Miss Gomez’s retro spin on the look, and that scrunchie – well, that scrunchie is just the trendiest icing on the trendiest cake.

Do The Twist

If you’re feeling brave/futuristic/bravely futuristic, or even futuristically brave, then try this super cool twist ‘do, sported by soon-to-be fully-fledged fashion icon Miley Cyrus. This style can be tricky with hair longer than shoulder-blade length, leaving the wearer looking more Princess Leia than on trend, but for those of you with hair on the shorter side it’s a great way to look great and keep those tresses off your face.

The Braided Up-Do

Of course, trust Emma Watson to take a typically practical hairstyle and transform it into the absolute pinnacle of red carpet sophistication. We love this look on Emma and think it makes for a perfect beauty and brains combo. Add some statement earrings and you’re done – glamour and intellect all in one.

The Mermaid Braid

The mermaid braid may be designed to look like it was thrown together, but it’s actually a pretty tricky plait to master. We don’t care though – its messy, boho charm makes it one of the most interesting looks on this list.

The Ballet Bun

Kim Kardashian’s tresses are no stranger to looking good, but we reckon this elegant ballerina-style top knot really draws attention to Miss Kardashian’s exotic natural beauty. This look has something of an opulent, ancient Egyptian vibe about it, so keep accessories to a minimum and let the ‘do speak for itself.

The Braided Top Knot

OK – so Nicole Richie’s take on the braided top knot isn’t exactly practical, with its grand, sweeping fringe, but we think there’s something ever-so-timeless about this ‘do. This look can be tricky to pull off with very thick hair, but a sufficient dose of elbow grease will make sure it’s well worth it – promise.

Will you be rocking any of these braided ‘dos this season? Who worked it best?
