Not Paris, Not New York, London is the Hairdressing capital of the world, with talent across the city producing everything hair related from in-salon looks to avant-garde catwalk creations.

There’s so much opportunity out there for Hair Stylists that it’s hard to know what to do next! So to do our part in the great fashion war, we dispatched our Artistic and Workshop teams to assist at the University of Westminster MA Mens Fashion Show for London Men’s Fashion Week 2018. Here’s our roundup of the show and the HAIRmazing work by both our Stylists and the incredibly talented fashion designers of London Men’s Fashion Week.

The tension was palpable backstage, and organised chaos seemed to reign supreme over the miasma of half-dressed models. Busy assistants and nervous designers at Heaven, in Charing Cross this June, for the show sponsored by M.A.C Cosmetics and L’Oréal Professionnel, the caverns of the famous London nightclub seemed to shield the shows participants from the unknown reactions of the guests, even though they were not set to arrive for hours, these red brick walls seemed to wrap the fears, nerves and frantic worrying in a warm blanket of London masonry.

Situated at the back of the preparation area through a haze of hairspray, humidity and what seemed to be an invisible static energy we found the Rush Hair team hard at work. From short severe crops to long slick looks our British Hairdressing Award-winning team prepared hair for every model in the show.

After a hard morning of preparations, the Rush Hair team had tweaked, preened, scraped, pulled and twisted their way to hair hegemony, the models were ready to walk the runway, strut their stuff and wow the international crowd. With the audience arriving, pressure was rising, the hall filled quickly with guests anticipating a glimpse of British fashions future.

Finally, the lights dimmed, breath was held, models huddled backstage like frightened Gazelles, photographers as if hunting massed at the end of the catwalk fingers on triggers ready to shoot. The beat started and the show began.

Cutting edge clothing and hair combined to initiate a fashion hurricane, the caverns of the world-famous nightclub Heaven resonated with colour, shapes, sound, textures and ideas. The show lasted one hour but only felt like five minutes; we could have stayed for days. Sadly, all too soon, it was over. The hall emptied, guests dashed to the bar, and we packed up our creativity for the day, satisfied that something special had just happened to London’s fashion scene.
