Top 5 Looks for Men to Try This Summer
Even though women seem to put in more effort to look their best during the sunny weather, it’s the month of the man at Rush, so we’ve reached out to Rush Artistic Team member & Southern Hair Dresser of the Year 2013, Seung Ki-Baek, to fill us in on key looks for men to try this summer. So Men, do more than just brush your hair in the morning, get your look in top shape this season!
Look 1 – Skin fade with sleek back top
This look is currently the most popular look for 2014 with celebrities such as David Beckham and Billy Huxley making it number one on my list.
For this cut, start with a skin fade on the sides and back, leaving the top longer and disconnected. To style it, I would recommend blow-drying your hair to straighten your strands, then use Smooth Liss Control from the L’Oréal techni art range and straighteners to create a sleek finish. Use Air Fix (techni art) to give strong hold and a polished finish.
Look 2- Skin fade with natural wave on top
This look is great for the festival season as it’s effortlessly stylish, poplar with celebrities such as Charlie Winzar.
For this cut, start with a skin fade on the sides and back leaving the top longer and disconnected. To style this haircut I would recommend using Beach Waves (techni art), scrunching the hair while using low speed on the hair dryer to set.
Look 3- Skin fade with short fringe
This look is a modern twist on the 90s crop. With models such as Toby Leonard carrying this style.
For this cut, keep it very short with a skin fade and a connected top. Make sure to keep it short with an edgy blunt fringe. To style this look, I would recommend using L’Oréal Professionnel tecni.art Smooth Liss Control (techni art) to give shine, and blow-dry forward with a comb. Then use WAX (L’Oréal Homme range) to create a bit of texture through the top.
Look 4 – Rockabilly Look
This look is for you ‘fashionistas’. A big trend coming back to catwalks with big designers such as Lanvin, modernising the 1950s trend.
Keeping the back and sides short, leave the fringe longer to create rockabilly waves. I would recommend using PLI by L’Oréal Professionel Techni-Art to give strong hold for blow-dry and use Fix Design (techni art) to give shine and very strong hold.
Look 5 – The Mun / Top Knot
To get this up-to-date modern punk/ grunge look I would recommend keep the back and sides shaved high with a very disconnected top. Celebrities rocking this look include Tom Hardy and Colin Farrell. The top must be left very long to create the pony tail or top knot.
The style this look, I would recommend using PLI (techni art) rough blow drying the hair and simply knot up the top with a hairband.
