Whether your go-to style is sleek and chic or full-on drama, the ghd Contour is a must-have. Take a look at our styling tips to see how you can incorporate the crimp into your routine day or night
Subtle sleek crimp
The deep and soft grooves of the ghd Contour make it easy to recreate this stylish and understated look that’s great for refreshing hair between washes.
Step one
Separate your hair into triangular sections and secure the top half. Spray with L’Oréal Paris Tecniart Constructor heat protector.
Step two
Taking small sections, place your ghd Contour styler at the root and hold for 4-8 seconds.
Step three
Continue down each section until you reach the ends, then repeat moving the styler upwards towards the root. Do the same on the opposite side.
Step four
Let the top section of your hair down and secure with Redken Control Addict 28 Extra High-hold Anti-humidity Hairspray for relaxed yet sultry vibes.
Plumped up braid
In the past we’ve relied on products to thicken our hair, but with the ghd Contour that’s a thing of the past.
Step one
Prep with L’Oréal Paris Tecniart volume architect styling spray and constructor heat protector. Separate into a triangular section and tie the rest away.
Step two
Taking small sections, place your ghd Contour styler at the root and hold for between 4-8 seconds. Continue along the entire length.
Step three
When the entire section is complete, release the remainder of your hair and secure in a French braid. Keep your style in place with Redken control addict 28 extra high-hold anti-humidity hairspray.
Hidden volume
Addicted to backcombing? Give your tresses a rest and swap your teaser comb for the limited edition ghd Contour.
Step one
Prepare your hair with L’Oréal Paris Tecniart volume architect styling spray and Tecniart Constructor heat protection. Section hair from ear to ear and tie the top section out of the way.
Step two
Taking thin sections of hair, place your Contour styler at the root and hold for 4-8 seconds. Repeat up to the crown
Step three
Once you’ve finished, smooth down the ends and secure into a low slung ponytail, finish with Redken control addict 28 extra high-hold anti-humidity hairspray.
Embellished crimp
After something simple and sleek? Try out this embellished crimp that’s perfect for when you’ve only 5 minutes before you run out the door. Follow these quick and easy steps:
Step one
Prepare using Redken Glow Dry gloss shampoo and detangling conditioner for amped-up shine, then spray with L’Oréal Paris Tecniart Constructor heat protector. Take a two-inch section of hair, comb through and pull taught.
Step two
Take a section of your hair from around eye level, place between the plates of your ghd Contour styler and hold for 4-8 seconds.
Step three
Repeat at jaw level and again on the other side. Make sure your style lasts as long as you do with Redken Control Addict 28 Extra high-hold anti-humidity hairspray and smooth Glow Dry style enhancing blow-dry hair oil onto dry hair for extra shine.
Textured pony
Rework the classic pony with this fun and textured style.
Step one
Secure your hair in a sleek ponytail, wrapping sections of hair around the base. Apply Redken control addict 28 extra high-hold anti-humidity hairspray to your hands and run them through your hair.
Step two
After spraying L’Oréal Paris Tecniart Constructor heat protector through your hair, take thin sections of your ponytail and place them between the plates of your ghd Contour styler and hold for 4-6 seconds. Continue to work down the length and repeat until you’ve crimped the entire ponytail.
Step three
Gently brush through your crimps to soften them, then use Redken control addict 28 extra high-hold anti-humidity hairspray to tease individual strands for added texture.
There’s no need to be frightened of ‘80s style hair, all it takes is the new ghd Contour and a few quick steps to create modern, stylish and wearable crimps, just in time for Christmas.
